World Mobile WMTx Rewards Guide
WMTx Staking Rewards: Rates & Calculations Explained
WMTx staking rewards depend on the staking model you choose. Core Staking currently offers variable rewards of up to 5% APY, while Locked Staking fixes an annual rate for each position. Final EarthNode Staking reward parameters have not yet been published.
Compare WMTx Rewards ↓WMTx Staking Rewards at a Glance
There is no single WMTx staking rate. Core, Locked and EarthNode Staking use different reward models.
| Staking Model | Reward Rate | Reward Structure | Predictability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core Staking | Up to 5% APY | Variable, monthly rewards | Not guaranteed |
| Locked Staking | Shown before staking | Fixed annual rate per position | Fixed for the selected term |
| EarthNode Staking | Not yet published | Delegation-based | Final parameters pending |
The Core Staking rate is not guaranteed. World Mobile states that actual rewards may vary and that in some circumstances no rewards may be earned.
How Do WMTx Staking Rewards Work?
WMTx staking rewards are determined by the rules of the staking programme in which your WMTx participates.
Core Staking uses a variable reward model with monthly reward calculations and automatic compounding. Locked Staking instead fixes the annual rate for each individual position when it is created. EarthNode Staking introduces a separate model based on delegating WMTx to an EarthNode.
Comparing WMTx rewards therefore requires more than looking at a single percentage. The staking period, flexibility, reward mechanics and whether the rate is variable or fixed all matter.
Core Staking Rewards
World Mobile currently states that Core Staking can earn up to 5% APY.
This is not a fixed or guaranteed return. Core Staking rewards are variable, and actual rewards can fluctuate. World Mobile also states that in some circumstances no rewards may be earned.
Core Staking rewards are calculated monthly and automatically compounded. This means earned rewards are added to the principal used for subsequent reward calculations.
“Up to 5% APY” is not a promised return. The actual Core Staking reward rate can vary, and past or estimated rates should not be treated as guaranteed future rewards.
Core Staking on Base vs. Cardano
Core Staking is available for WMTx on both Base and Cardano. World Mobile describes both options as having the same reward structure, but the technical flow and reward timing differ.
| Feature | Base / EVM | Cardano |
|---|---|---|
| Core reward structure | Up to 5% APY, variable | Up to 5% APY, variable |
| Reward period | Rolling 30-day epochs | Monthly staking cycle |
| Qualification | WMTx must remain staked for the full epoch | Snapshot on the 1st of each month at 11:30 UTC |
| Interface | EVM Staking App | World Mobile Vault |
| Token handling | WMTx interacts with the staking smart contract | WMTx remains in the linked Cardano wallet |
| Lock period | No fixed lock period | No fixed lock period |
Leaving or changing a Core Staking position before completing the relevant epoch or staking period can cause the rewards for that period to be forfeited.
How Are Cardano Core Staking Rewards Claimed?
Cardano Core Staking uses the World Mobile Vault to track the WMTx associated with a verified Cardano wallet. Once rewards become claimable, they can be claimed through the WMTx Rewards Portal powered by SundaeSwap.
Available rewards can be claimed for an individual staking period or allowed to accumulate across multiple periods before claiming. A small ADA transaction fee applies when rewards are claimed, and the claimed rewards are sent to the connected Cardano wallet as WMTx.
Claiming Cardano Core rewards does not end the ongoing stake. World Mobile states that staking can continue as long as the wallet balance remains above the amount required for the relevant snapshot.
Example: Core Staking at 5% APY
The following values illustrate what a constant 5% annual rate would represent before considering the effect of monthly compounding:
| WMTx Staked | Illustrative Annual Rate | Simple Annual Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 10,000 WMTx | 5% | 500 WMTx |
| 50,000 WMTx | 5% | 2,500 WMTx |
| 100,000 WMTx | 5% | 5,000 WMTx |
These are simplified illustrations, not forecasts. Core rewards are variable, World Mobile describes the rate as up to 5% APY, and monthly automatic compounding means actual calculations are not identical to a simple annual percentage multiplication.
Locked Staking Rewards
Locked Staking fixes an annual rate for each position when it is created.
Terms of 3, 6, 9 and 12 months are available. World Mobile states that longer commitments receive higher annual rates. Before confirming a position, the Locked Staking app shows the applicable rate, calculated reward and end date.
How Are Locked Staking Rewards Calculated?
Locked Staking rates are annual rates. The reward for an individual position is therefore calculated proportionally according to the number of days in the selected term.
Reward = WMTx staked × annual rate × days in term ÷ 365
World Mobile Example
World Mobile uses the example of a three-month position with a 5.50% annual rate and a 92-day term. Over those 92 days, the position would earn approximately 1.39% of the amount staked.
A 5.50% annual rate does not mean a three-month position earns 5.50% in three months. The annual rate is prorated according to the actual term.
Locked Staking Calculation Example
Using World Mobile’s example annual rate of 5.50% and a 92-day term, a position containing 10,000 WMTx would be calculated as follows:
10,000 WMTx × 5.50% × 92 ÷ 365 ≈ 138.63 WMTx
The 5.50% rate comes from World Mobile’s calculation example. The rate offered when a new Locked Staking position is created may be different. The rate displayed in the official staking app before confirmation is the relevant rate for that position.
Do Locked Staking Rewards Compound?
No. Locked Staking rewards do not automatically compound during an active position.
Rewards accrue during the term but are not added to the principal used to generate additional rewards within that same position.
When the term ends, the original WMTx and accrued rewards can be withdrawn. A holder who wants to compound can then create a new Locked Staking position using the combined amount.
Locked Staking positions do not automatically renew. Rewards stop accruing once the agreed term has ended.
Why Do Longer Locked Staking Terms Have Higher Rates?
World Mobile rewards longer WMTx commitments with higher annual rates. A 12-month position therefore carries a higher annual rate than a 3-month position created under the same rate schedule.
Repeatedly opening shorter positions is not necessarily equivalent to choosing a longer term from the beginning. Future rates can change, and every new position receives the rate available when it is created.
EarthNode Staking Rewards
Final public reward parameters for WMTx delegated to EarthNodes have not yet been published.
World Mobile confirms that EarthNode Staking is intended to allow WMTx holders to delegate to EarthNodes rather than operating an EarthNode themselves. However, a final delegator reward rate, operator fee structure and reward split have not yet been publicly specified.
A reliable EarthNode Staking yield calculation or direct reward comparison with Core and Locked Staking is therefore not yet possible.
EarthNode Staking & Delegation →Core vs. Locked vs. EarthNode Rewards
| Feature | Core Staking | Locked Staking | EarthNode Staking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rate | Up to 5% APY | Fixed annual rate per position | Not yet published |
| Can the rate change? | Yes | Not during an existing position | Not yet known |
| Compounding | Automatic, monthly | No compounding during the term | Not yet published |
| Reward predictability | Variable | Known before confirming the position | Not yet known |
What Determines Your WMTx Staking Rewards?
The relevant factors depend on the staking model.
More WMTx produces a larger absolute reward when all other conditions are equal.
Core uses a variable rate, while Locked Staking fixes the annual rate for each position.
Completing the relevant Core period is necessary to qualify for rewards, while Locked Staking rewards are calculated according to the selected term.
Core, Locked and EarthNode Staking use different reward mechanics and should not be compared using a percentage alone.
World Mobile currently states that Core Staking offers returns of up to 5% APY. The rate is variable and rewards are not guaranteed. Actual rewards can fluctuate and in some circumstances no rewards may be earned.
Yes. World Mobile states that Core Staking rewards are calculated monthly and automatically compounded, meaning earned rewards are added to the principal for subsequent reward calculations.
Both use the same Core reward structure, but the technical flow and timing differ. Base uses rolling 30-day staking epochs through the EVM Staking App. Cardano uses the World Mobile Vault and monthly snapshots taken on the 1st of each month at 11:30 UTC.
Locked Staking rewards are calculated from the amount of WMTx staked, the annual rate and the number of days in the term. The formula is WMTx staked × annual rate × days in term ÷ 365. The app shows the calculated reward before confirmation.
Yes. The annual rate for an individual Locked Staking position is fixed onchain when the position is created and cannot change during that term.
No. Rewards do not compound during an active Locked Staking position. After the term ends, the original WMTx and rewards can be withdrawn and used together to create a new position if desired.
World Mobile has not yet published final public delegator reward rates, operator fees or the reward split for WMTx delegated to EarthNodes. A reliable EarthNode Staking yield therefore cannot yet be calculated.
No. Core Staking rewards are variable and not guaranteed. Locked Staking fixes the annual rate for an existing position, but the WMTx remains committed for the selected term and future positions may offer different rates.
