Unetwork Tasks Explained – Verification, Scout, Runner & Entropy
Unetwork Tasks are real-world network activities performed through participating smartphones. Depending on the task, a device can contribute telecommunications verification, monitoring, network intelligence, performance data or other forms of distributed edge-network work.
Task availability changes as Unetwork adds services and third-party integrations. This guide therefore separates the general Unetwork task model from specific tasks that are currently documented or announced by Unetwork.

Unetwork currently describes its mobile-device work broadly as verification, monitoring, network intelligence and performance analysis. Documented task developments include Caller ID verification, expanded telemetry, Scout & Runner and the newer Entropy task. Individual tasks can be activated, suspended, expanded or restricted depending on technical and commercial requirements.
What Do Unetwork Tasks Do?
Unetwork operates a distributed edge network made up partly of real smartphones in different locations and carrier networks. These devices can provide observations and verification data that centralized systems cannot collect with the same geographic and network diversity.
Unetwork states that this data can help carriers and enterprises detect fraud, revenue leakage, network problems and other telecom risks.

Caller ID Verification
Caller ID verification is used to check whether incoming calls display the expected caller information after passing through telecommunications routes.
Unetwork officially announced support for international and domestic Caller ID verification testing in 2026. This type of verification can help identify discrepancies that arise as calls move between carriers and network routes.
No outbound mobile charges
Unetwork states that its application does not use your SIM card or carrier account to make outbound calls or send outbound SMS. Technical network checks are handled through the Unetwork service.
SMS and Messaging Verification
Unetwork has also developed SMS-related verification capabilities. App updates in 2026 included improvements to SMS testing task management and phone-number verification.
Messaging verification can be used to assess whether telecom messaging services behave as expected across different carriers and network routes. The exact tasks available to a License Operator can vary over time.
What Are Unetwork Scout and Runner?
Scout & Runner is a third-party opt-in task provided by ApexTelecom and hosted by Unetwork. Unlike the standard background operation of the Unetwork App, Scout & Runner represents an additional task environment with separate roles.
Scout
The Scout role forms part of the ApexTelecom Scout & Runner task environment. Availability and individual task instructions are provided through the platform when the role is active.
Runner
The Runner role is the second role within the same third-party task platform. Operators should follow the instructions shown by Scout & Runner rather than assuming that standard Unetwork task rules apply identically.
As of August 2026, Unetwork has announced Scout & Runner as available in public Beta. The service was temporarily suspended during development and subsequently reactivated, illustrating why its current status should always be checked before relying on it.
What Is the Unetwork Entropy Task?
Entropy is a newer Unetwork task that allows supported Android devices to contribute high-quality randomness to a decentralized pool. According to Unetwork, the task operates in the background on attested Android devices and is designed with privacy in mind.
Randomness is required by many digital systems for security and other applications. Distributed real-world devices can provide independent sources of entropy rather than relying entirely on a centralized source.
Android-specific requirement
Current official Unetwork information describes Entropy for attested Android devices. iOS users should therefore not assume that the task is available on their device unless Unetwork explicitly adds support.
What Happens When a Unetwork Task Is Completed?
Unetwork’s 2026 Litepaper describes an operational flow in which participating devices contribute network activity, Validation Nodes confirm integrity and connectivity, Earth Nodes document identified issues and critical metadata is hashed to WMChain.
This creates an auditable on-chain proof of network activity before applicable rewards are distributed.
Are Unetwork Tasks Passive or Active?
There is no single rule for every Unetwork task. Some activities can run primarily in the background, while other services or third-party tasks can require additional interaction, eligibility or explicit opt-in.
For this reason, License Operators should follow the instructions shown for each task in the current Unetwork App rather than assuming that all tasks operate automatically.

Unetwork’s Terms specify that platform tasks must originate from a personal mobile device. Datacenter IP addresses, VPS infrastructure, VPN services, proxy services and automated infrastructure are prohibited for accessing platform tasks.

No fixed reward amount applies to every task. Unetwork states that rewards depend on network tasks and does not guarantee their availability, frequency or amount.
