World Mobile WMTx Staking Guide

How to Stake WMTx: Core, Locked & EarthNode Staking

World Mobile offers different ways to stake WMTx. Core Staking provides the existing flexible staking route, Locked Staking lets you commit WMTx for a fixed term and rate, while EarthNode Staking introduces delegation to World Mobile EarthNodes.

WMTx Staking Options at a Glance

The three staking models serve different purposes. The main differences are flexibility, how long WMTx is committed and whether staking is connected to an EarthNode.

Staking Type Commitment Rate Main Purpose
Core Staking 30-day epochs Variable Flexible WMTx staking
Locked Staking 3, 6, 9 or 12 months Fixed for each position Fixed-term staking with known terms
EarthNode Staking Final delegation rules not yet published Final reward parameters not yet published Delegate WMTx to an EarthNode

What Is WMTx Staking?

WMTx staking allows holders to commit WMTx to a World Mobile staking mechanism and receive rewards according to the rules of that staking programme.

World Mobile does not use one single staking model. Core Staking, Locked Staking and EarthNode Staking differ in how WMTx is committed, how rewards are determined and what role the stake performs within the network.

Before staking, it is therefore important to choose the staking model that matches the amount of flexibility you need and the role you want your WMTx to have.

1. Core Staking

Core Staking is World Mobile’s flexible staking model with a variable reward rate.

World Mobile currently describes Core Staking on World Mobile Chain as staking WMTx in 30-day epochs with rewards paid monthly.

Structure 30-day epochs
Rewards Monthly
Rate Variable

Core Staking continues alongside Locked Staking for now. World Mobile has also announced that Core Staking will eventually be wound down, with holders to receive notice before that happens.

Existing Core Staking positions do not automatically move into Locked Staking. The two programmes are separate.

2. Locked Staking

Locked Staking lets you commit WMTx for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months with a fixed annual rate for that individual staking position.

Locked Staking is available on Base and Cardano. Before confirming a position, the staking interface shows the selected amount, term, fixed annual rate, calculated reward and end date.

Terms 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 months
Annual Rate Fixed per position
Minimum / Maximum None stated
Early Withdrawal Not available

How Locked Staking Works

STEP 1

Connect Your Wallet

Open the official World Mobile Locked Staking application and connect a supported wallet.

STEP 2

Choose a Term

Select a staking period of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months.

STEP 3

Enter Your WMTx

Choose how much WMTx you want to commit to that position.

STEP 4

Review & Confirm

Check the rate, calculated reward and end date before confirming the onchain transaction.

Once a Locked Staking position is confirmed, its term and rate cannot be changed and the committed WMTx cannot be withdrawn before the end date.

How Are Locked Staking Rewards Calculated?

The percentage displayed for Locked Staking is an annual rate. A shorter staking term therefore earns only the proportional part of that annual rate.

WMTx staked × annual rate × days in term ÷ 365

Rewards accrue during the selected term. They do not compound automatically within the same Locked Staking position. At the end of the term, the original WMTx and the rewards can be withdrawn together.

For a detailed explanation of reward rates and calculations, see our WMTx Staking Rewards guide.

3. EarthNode Staking

EarthNode Staking is the World Mobile staking model in which WMTx holders delegate WMTx to a World Mobile EarthNode rather than operating the node themselves.

World Mobile currently lists EarthNode Staking as “Activating shortly.” The final public delegation workflow, minimum delegation amount, undelegation rules and delegator reward parameters have not yet been published.

EarthNode Staking is therefore different from both Core and Locked Staking: the WMTx is associated with a selected EarthNode and its role in securing and operating World Mobile Chain.

Which WMTx Staking Option Fits Which Goal?

Core Staking

Designed for holders who prefer the existing flexible staking structure and do not want to commit to a multi-month fixed term.

Locked Staking

Suited to holders who are comfortable committing WMTx for a defined period and want the rate for that position fixed in advance.

EarthNode Staking

Intended for holders who want their WMTx delegated to a specific EarthNode once public EarthNode delegation becomes available.

The appropriate option depends on your own priorities, including liquidity needs, commitment period and willingness to accept changing or fixed staking terms.

Important Before Staking WMTx

Use Official Staking Interfaces

Verify that you are using the official World Mobile staking application before connecting a wallet or approving a transaction.

Understand the Commitment

Locked Staking positions cannot be withdrawn early, so check the amount, term and end date before confirming.

Do Not Double-Count WMTx

The same WMTx cannot be committed to Core and Locked Staking at the same time.

Check the Reward Rules

Variable and fixed-rate staking work differently. Review the applicable reward mechanics before staking.

Can WMTx Be Staked on More Than One Blockchain?

WMTx exists across multiple blockchain environments, and the available staking route depends on the staking programme.

World Mobile’s Locked Staking application currently supports Base and Cardano. World Mobile Chain is the network World Mobile identifies as the foundation for future staking and rewards, including EarthNode Staking.

Always follow the chain and wallet instructions shown in the official staking interface for the specific programme you choose.

How can I stake WMTx?

World Mobile offers different WMTx staking models. Core Staking uses a flexible 30-day epoch structure, Locked Staking lets you commit WMTx for 3, 6, 9 or 12 months at a fixed annual rate for the position, and EarthNode Staking is designed for delegation of WMTx to an EarthNode.

What is WMTx Locked Staking?

Locked Staking allows WMTx holders to create positions lasting 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. The annual rate attached to each position is fixed when the stake is created and the committed WMTx cannot be withdrawn before the term ends.

Can I unstake WMTx early from Locked Staking?

No. World Mobile states that WMTx committed to a Locked Staking position cannot be withdrawn until the selected term has ended.

Is there a minimum amount for WMTx Locked Staking?

World Mobile states that Locked Staking has no minimum or maximum WMTx amount.

Can the Locked Staking rate change after I stake?

No. The annual rate attached to a Locked Staking position is fixed onchain when the position is created and does not change during that term.

Can I use the same WMTx for Core and Locked Staking?

No. Core Staking and Locked Staking are separate programmes and the same WMTx cannot participate in both at the same time.

Is EarthNode Staking available now?

World Mobile currently lists EarthNode Staking as activating shortly. Final public details such as the minimum delegation amount, undelegation rules and delegator reward parameters have not yet been published.

Is Core Staking being discontinued?

Core Staking continues alongside Locked Staking for now. World Mobile has stated that Core Staking will eventually be wound down and that holders will receive notice before this happens.
